need cockatiel advice?
I have a cockatiel he non stop screams.. he bites REALLY hard when I try to get him out I just recently got him and he has NEVER been out of his cage he is a year old...what can i do to tame him down and to help stop the Screaming... im 17 and it is so hard to sleep at nite and i come home from school and withen the hour i have a MAJOR headache.. i ave 2 other tiels both tame and loving sweet whistles and all but nutten like what he does PLEASE PLEASE HELP...
If he's keeping you up at night, then I'd say he's not getting enough sleep. Cockatiels are normally diurnal, and they need 10-12 hours of sleep at night. Like with humans, sleep deprivation makes birds cranky. Do you cover his cage and turn off the light when it's time for him to sleep? If not, he may not know it's nighttime. However, it doesn't have to be completely dark; a night light is often recommended for cockatiels, as they're known to panic if they can't see at all. Also, are there noises that could be disturbing him?
