Need help getting daughter an Acoustic Guitar for lessons on a budget?
I bought her one from ebay and the teacher said it was garbage, so I'm looking at a couple at WalMart now. One says it's a Washburn, I don't know what that means but I was wondering if that would be a good (acoustic) guitar for a child to learn on? It's Hannah Montanna. These are the details:
Hannah Montana Acoustic Guitar Features: Select hardwood. Rosewood Bridge and Fingeboard. Closed tuners. Burst top finish. Pick guard. Limited Lifetime Warranty. Four color box design.
__The other is synsonic little divas guitar. It's at sears.com I couldn't find the details for it. Can someone tell me if these would be good sounding learner guitars for lessons?
I agree with previous answers that buying at Walmart or Sears is probably not your best bet.
But nobody provided any good recommendations for a budget guitar for a beginning player - so I'll recommend a couple:
If your daughter is a teenager (or soon will be), you're probably better off getting her a Full Size acoustic guitar, unless she's extremely tiny (when I started playing at 8 years old, I used a full-Size Guitar without a problem).
Two guitars I always recommend for beginning players:
Rogue RA-100D, $70-80 USD. http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Rogue-RA100D-Dreadnought-Guitar?sku=511192
Jasmine by Takamine S35, $100 USD. http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Jasmine-by-Takamine-S35-Acoustic-Guitar?sku=516451
If your daughter is very young, or *very* small, you may consider a 3/4 size (parlor size) guitar.
Gretsch Americana - if she doesn't mind that they have american western pictures on them, these are *great* guitars for the money. You Can get them on ebay or craigslist for about $70.
Hope this helps
