My son is in the 5th grade, what is a good brand of snare drum to buy him?
I would probably spend around $200 to get him everything he needs, I assume a practice pad and stick are separate, so would go up to $250 if this is the case. I want to get him a good brand that will last him a long time!
Buy quality, buy once. If he loses interest You Can sell a good snare easier than a crappy one. No need for a separate practice pad, just get the kind that sits on top of the snare. One more thing, if this is for School Band you need to find out what size and shell type they require, steel, wood, brass, 5", 7", 8", etc. Below are some worth looking at.
