Best batter bass drum head for a high pitch and bright tone sound?
I have been shopping around for a bass head to match the sound above. If any of you veterans out there can put me on the right path it would be appreciated.
I've used coated white heads in the past with great results, but the Evans MX2 series Marching Corps heads have been my recent preference (Remo makes a great head as well, the Gleneagles, but the Evans was in stock when I was making my purchase 
) A great bright tone with good projection.
To make the pitch higher (with any heads) tension both top and bottom heads equally up to the point that you like the feel of the batter head, then tension the bottom head up or down a bit to get the sound you like. For single head drums, tension up to, but within the range it feels good.
O-Rings, rather than dampening (if used) with towels, pillows, etc... will also produce a higher pitched sound.
