What's a good, quality (but not too expensive!) double bass for a bassist who is new to upright?
Looking around on eBay, I found a lot of upright basses for 350-400 dollars or so, but I'm a big believer in "You get what you pay for". Does anyone have any suggestions for an alright-quality double bass, that's not going to break the bank? I live in the middle of Nebraska, so shipping is going to be a beast as well. Thanks!
Oh man, tough one, spend as much as You Can and look here: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=44 for advice and secondhand basses. You are absolutely right that the more you spend the better and setup is pretty important on a budget bass so you may want to stick with a well played well setup older bass than buy new. Good luck, upright is a great instrument!
